DON'T DO MORE.
KNOW WHAT'S NEXT.
A development pathway should not feel complicated. Pick one part of your game, build it properly, then make it look more like football.
Choose one focus
Do not try to fix everything. Pick the one action that would help your game most right now.
Examples: first touch • passing • scanning • turning • 1v1 • finishing.
Learn the action
Slow it down. Get the movement right first. Use both feet where the action allows it.
Ask: Can I do it cleanly without pressure?
Repeat with purpose
Now build consistency. Good repetitions matter more than rushing through a huge number.
Target: 3 short rounds. Reset when the quality drops.
Add a decision
Football is not a pattern you already know. Add a cue that makes you look, react or choose.
Add: a colour • a gate • a direction • a call • a passive defender.
Add pressure
Make the space smaller, increase the speed or introduce an opponent. Keep the same technical action.
Ask: Can I still do it when I have less time?
Take it to training
Your extra work only matters if you recognise the moment in football. Go into team training looking for chances to use it.
Do not force it. See it → try it → learn from it.
Review the game
After training or a match, keep the review simple. Judge the action, not the result of the game.
What worked? What felt difficult? What will I repeat next?
Use the 3-check rule.
If one is missing, stay with the focus. Progress it — don't abandon it.
20 MINUTES. 2–3 TIMES.
You do not need hours of extra training. Keep the focus the same long enough to actually improve it.
